Hepatitis E Virus Genotype 4, Denmark, 2012
To the Editor: Hepatitis E virus genotype 4 (HEV4) is most commonly reported in China and Japan; it has primarily been categorized as a zoonotic virus because it has been found in humans and several other animal species (1). In Europe, HEV4 has been identified in 6 countries, in humans and other animals. The first cases of HEV4 infection in a human and an animal (pig) were detected through stra...

al. Identification of rodent homologs of hepatitis C virus and pegiviruses. et al. Serology-enabled discovery of genetically diverse hepaciviruses in a new host. To the Editor: Hepatitis E virus (HEV; family Hepeviridae, ge-nus Hepevirus) is a positive-stranded RNA virus with a genome of ≈7.2 kb that contains 3 open reading frames (1,2). On the basis of sequence analysis , mammalian HEVs are cl...
متن کاملHepatitis E Virus Genotype 4 Outbreak, Italy, 2011
During 2011, 5 persons in the area of Lazio, Italy were infected with a monophyletic strain of hepatitis E virus that showed high sequence homology with isolates from swine in China. Detection of this genotype in Italy parallels findings in other countries in Europe, signaling the possible spread of strains new to Western countries.
متن کاملAutochthonous Infections with Hepatitis E Virus Genotype 4, France
During January-March 2011, diagnoses of hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection increased in Marseille University hospitals in southeastern France. HEV genotype 4, which is described almost exclusively in Asia, was recovered from 2 persons who ate uncooked pork liver sausage. Genetic sequences were 96.7% identical to those recently described in swine in Europe.
